The much-awaited 4th Indian Biodiversity Congress is now well within our vicinity! Preliminary meeting for the conduct of the upcoming leg of the largest biennial devoted for the cause of country’s biodiversity was held today (15 June, 2016) at Malabar Botanical Garden (MBG), Pookunnu, Kozhikode. Director, MBG, Dr. R. Prakash Kumar chaired the meeting in which special guests were Block Panchayat President, Mr. N. Manojkumar and Olavanna Grama Panchayat President, Ms. Thankamani G. The meeting was well attended by eminent figures from the fields of academia and local governance. On the occasion, it was decided to hold the 4th IBC at MBG for which the Olavanna Grama Panchayat will be providing every support, considering the event as a local festival. Among the dignitaries present were Dr. Nirmal Babu, Acting Director, Indian Institute of Spices Research; Dr. Sibichan M. Thomas, Principal, St. Joseph’s College; Prof. Sobheendran, renowned environmentalist; and scientists from Zoological Survey of India. General Secretary of CISSA, Dr. C. Suresh Kumar and Member, Dr. K.G. Ajit Kumar described about the IBC experiences at CISSA. So as usual, with IBC on the anvil, this December will have more excitement for you.
