Seminar on Technological Advances in Sustainable
Transportation – Electrical Mobility and Use of Renewable Energy

As part of National Technology Day 2018 Celebrations, Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), organized a seminar on “Technological Advances in Sustainable Transportation – Electrical Mobility and Use of Renewable Energy in partnership withAgency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT), Government of Kerala on 14th May 2018 at the Conference Hall of ANERT, Thiruvananthapuram. This programme was sponsored by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE).
The experts presenting papers in the seminar opined that the future transportation will be electric vehicles. The switch from petroleum based transportation to electrical must be linked in such a way that the energy used for electrical vehicular transport must be from renewable energy. Otherwise net result will be reduced pollution in cities while increased demand for conventional energy will result in more emissions from power plants.
Smt.PadmaMahanti, IFS, Director,Dept. of Environment & Climate Change (DoECC), Govt. of Keralainaugurated the National Technology Day 2018 Celebrations. The presidential address was delivered by Dr.R.Harikumar, Director, ANERT. Er.Binuja Thomas, Senior Scientist, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE), Dr.C.K.Peethambaran, Director, CISSA,Dr.K.Murugan, Director, CISSA spoke on the occasion.
Technical sessions were handled by Er.A.M.Narayanan, Head, Energy Efficiency, Energy Management Centre, Kerala(Electric vehicles and Government policy),Er.B.VSureshbabu, Accredited Energy Auditor-BEE, Ottotractions(Environment, climate and economic impacts of electric transportation system)Er.Sabu V.R, Associate Professor, Automobile Engineering, SCT College of Engineering (Evolution of Electric Mobility) and Shri.Sriram R Rajeev, Mahendra Electricals (Electric vehicles for mass transportation and personal use)
