Second day closes with meaning at Annam 2015

On the second day of Annam 2015, CISSA family had something to take pride of. Furthering the meaning of the fair, the day began with an Organic Farmers’ Meet at Rajendra Maidan at 10.30am. The meet was inaugurated by Hon. Dr. Vandana Shiva. Adding excitement and life to the day was an interaction between organic leader of Tamil Nadu Shri. S.R. Sundara Raman and our own farmer legend, the pride of Wayanad, Shri. Cheruvayal Raman; and farmer fraternity of Ernakulam and adjacent localities.

Two books of CISSA, both magnificent works of Prof. C.R. Rajagopal was released by Vandanaji and Cheruvayal Ramettan. The books are a real assent and their titles are: Summer Rains: The roots of indigenous knowledge in Kerala (English, Rs.90) and ‘Varikkaplaavinu Vendi or Vadakkan Paattu – Ramathalamele Kunjichappan – A study (Malayalam, Rs.30).

In the afternoon, there was a Youth Meet at St. Theresa’s College wherein Dr. Vandana Shiva addressed an enthusiastic crowd of students.

As dusk fell, the Food Court at Rajendra Maidan was reverberating with folk arts demonstrations by young groups of tribes and farmers. Of course, the venues had increased public participation.
