Second leg of the Household Medicinal Plant Cultivation project of CISSA was realized at Udarasiromani Residents Association (URA), Thiruvananthapuram, on 15 Dec 2016. During a function held in this regard at CISSA’s Seminar Hall, distribution of grow bag sets containing valuable medicinal plants was inaugurated by Hon. Deputy Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, Adv. Rakhi Ravikumar. Smt. Omana Nair, a senior resident received the first grow bag.
During her speech, Adv. Rakhi Ravikumar reminded her listeners on the need to popularize medicinal plants with the same pace as the State has been doing with household vegetable cultivation.
Furthering the meaningfulness of the occasion were awareness classes about Ayurveda and Medicinal plants deftly handled by two erudite scholars, Dr. P. Sankarankutty and Dr. S. Rajasekharan. Both of them caught their audience under their spell of knowledge in the sphere. Males and females as well as the young and the old were led to enticing practical wisdom of nurturing essential medicinal plants in their yards to reap larger benefits with the health of their family members.
The enthusiasm of the participants was vivid as Dy. Mayor sat throughout the lectures and engaged in interaction with the speakers.
The function was presided over by Shri. T.K.Bhaskara Panicker, President, USRA.
Earlier Dr. C.K. Peethambaran elucidated on the project that goes on and Dr. NG Balachandranath welcomed participants. Secretary of the USRA, Shri.Mohan Das proposed vote of thanks.
