CISSA’s is an unrelenting commitment for promoting good, native food and hence its untiring efforts to promote jackfruit, the wholesome fruit. Yesterday, begun at the pristine Sooryakaanthi lawns of Kanaka Kunnu Palace in Thiruvananthapuram was a 10-day Jackfruit Mela organized by Jackfruit Promotion Council and Santhigram – two fervent organizations offering yeomen service for regaining the glory of the King of fruits.
And naturally, CISSA has become the knowledge partner procuring a Pavilion named as ‘Chakka Vijnana Pradarshanam’ (Exhibition of Jackfruit Wisdom). We have managed to make a display of informative posters and speaking photographs of jackfruit and its tree in majestic postures.
Our pavilion has also got a huge display of books related to good food, health and biodiversity – thanks to around fifty news books from Navdanya and CISSA’s own publications.
Yesterday, Worshipful Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, Adv. VK Prashanth lighted a brass lamp to mark the formal opening of the Mela. We have huge gratification to have long presence of Worshipful Mayor interacting with our officials and keenly going through the exhibits at our pavilion. He had exchanges of ideas on jackfruit promotion with our General Secretary, Dr. C. Suresh Kumar; Head, CISSA-OFRC, Dr. NG Balachndranath and Liaison Officer, Shri. S. Sudhakaran.
Friends, those who are convenient enough, please visit our pavilion anytime between 10am and 8.30pm until July 31.
