World Environment Day 2017 celebrations
Seminar & Quiz Competition

The World Environment Day 2017 celebrations was jointly organised by Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), National Green Corps (NGC) and Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE) on 10th June 2017 at the Seminar Hall of CISSA, Thiruvananthapuram. The programme was inaugurated by Dr.R.Hari kumar, Director, ANERT. The programme consisted of quiz competition for high school students and seminar and question-answer sessions with experts.
A written examination was conducted to shortlist the participants. A total of 72 students representing 28 teams participated in the quiz competition.
Technical Sessions were handled by Dr.R.Harikumar (Director, ANERT), Dr.A.Bijukumar (Professor and Head, Dept. of Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram), Dr.P.N.Krishnan (Emeritus Scientist, Malabar Botanical Garden and Institute for Plant Sciences, Kozhikode), Dr.E.K.Eswaran (Veterinary Officer, Animal Husbandry Department, Government of Kerala), Dr.C.K.Peethambaran (Former Director of Research, Kerala Agricultural University) and Dr.K.G.Ajitkumar (Former Head, Dept. of Botany, MG College, Thiruvananthapuram)
Prof.P.Vijayachandran, Former Managing Director, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation gave away the prizes to the winners of the quiz competition.
Dr.K.N.Ramachandran, Filtran Microcircuits, Ottawa, Canada gave a special lecture on the waste disposal & power generation by plasma pyrolysis.
